Reading

Although I'm interested in many aspects of British history, I also love to find out about the towns and villages that I live in. I moved to Reading in 2009 and since then, have delved into some of its past.

If you're interested in finding out more about the history of Reading, I hope you'll find these articles useful...

If there are any Reading subjects you think I should look at for future posts, let me know in the comments and I'll have a dig in the sources.

My book, Forgotten Women of the Wars of the Roses, published by Pen and Sword, examines the lives of some Berkshire women, many with links to Reading. They include Elizabeth Clerk, the wife of a Draper in the town and Elizabeth Woodville, who sparked a new momentum to the Wars of the Roses during her appearance at Reading Abbey in 1464. There are also women including Isabella More who was buried in Tilehurst and Anne Beauchamp, born in Caversham Castle. Order your copy here.
